How Testing and Grading Works at Online Schools

Just like traditional schools, if you take up online learning you will get graded. After all, without grades how will you ever be able to get your degree or pass a course? Some people are under the impression that online learning has a different grading system than traditional classes. This may be true to a certain extent, but for the most part things are the same. Your teacher will give you an outline at the beginning of the course on how your grade will be determined. In addition, they will tell you what constitutes an A, B, C, D, and F. This way you will know from the very start what you need to do in order to get the grade that you want.

Testing

Testing in the online learning world is a bit tricky. The reason for this is that teachers do not have the ability to pass the test out, and then make sure that everybody turns it in on time. But this does not mean that you have full reign to do as you please if you are taking online courses.

Generally speaking, your teacher will you tell you when you are having a test. On that day you will have the ability to access the test, and then complete it based on the knowledge that you picked up from the lessons. In most cases, there will be a due date on the test as well. For instance, your teacher may tell you that the test will be available on Monday morning, and is due back to them in completed form by noon the next day. Of course this is only an example, but all in all this is similar to what you will be up against when testing.

Online School Grading System

At online schools you will either get a pass/fail grade, or it will be based on a grading scale. Either way, you will end up with some type of mark when everything is said and done with. There are many factors that go into grading. Obviously, students are graded on how well they perform when tests are given. This is just like any other class that is given at a traditional college. In addition, grades are also determined based on homework assignments that are given out on a regular basis.

As an online student you are responsible for taking all of the tests as outlined by your instructor. If you do not, you cannot expect to get a good grade; it is that simple. Your instructor will base your final grade on the scores that you receive throughout the semester. So make sure that you follow the rules, and take every class seriously.
